GLOSSOM TOW Off To A Great Start

For those not in the know, GLOSSOM are combined Tug of War youth teams from the Somerset Cadet Battalion (The Rifles) and Gloucestershire Army Cadet Force who had a tremendous inaugural year in 2011 which culminated in several cadets receiving their England colours.
The GLOSSOM Tug of War teams in all their weight categories have commenced their second season in fine form. At present the Somerset cadet element are all drawn from Salamanca Company.
The Dorset Farmers League matches began in March where all of the teams acquitted themselves very well pulling against extremely strong adults. The boys are putting in excellent performances in the National League too and are currently placed first and third:
15 April 2012 - Kempston, Bedford
560kg boys finished 1st and 4th
520kg boys finished 1st and 3rd
22 April 2012 - Thames Valley, Reading
560kg boys finished 1st and 3rd
520kg boys finished 1st and 3rd
1 May 2012 - Barton-under-Needwood, Staffordshire
560kg boys finished 1st and 4th
520kg boys finished 1st and 2nd
The National All England Finals are due to take place on Saturday 16 June 2012 at Buxton Rugby Club, Derbyshire. Should GLOSSOM secure victories here, then Somerset cadets are likely to be selected to represent their country once again at the United Kingdom Championships later this summer.
GLOSSOM will also be in action on Saturday 23 June 2012 at Weston Super Mare for the County Cadet Inter Services Competition and will also be participating in the National Army Cadet Force Championships in York on Saturday 7 July 2012.
