Unfortunately high winds and poor visibility on the Saturday precluded any shooting on the range so our team, under the leadership of Second Lieutenant Will Drewe for this meeting, practiced dry training and marksmanship principles for most of the day.
Sunday dawned with much improved weather conditions at Okehampton and the Montgomery of Alamein competition finally got under way. The Saturday practice day, intensive coaching delivered at Annual Camp and prior to the event paid massive dividends with Somerset scooping five out of the six prizes on offer! Our Commandant, Colonel Paul Richardson, presented the awards.

The competition results were as follows:

Top Team Somerset Cadet Battalion B Team
2 Place Team Somerset Cadet Battalion C Team
3 Place Team Somerset Cadet Battalion D Team
6 Place Team Somerset Cadet Battalion A Team
Brigade Champion Shot Cadet Lance Corporal Adam Packer
(Yeovil Platoon)
Place Individual Shot Cadet Corporal Sarah Parsons (Bridgewater Platoon)

Many congratulations to all of the Somerset Cadet Battalion Shooting Team! Their success can be added to the ever growing list of cadet achievements for this year.
A big thank you goes to Colour Serjeant Dave Evans who coached the Normandy Company team, Serjeant Colin Mackenzie who assisted in coaching the Salamanca Company cadets and Potential Instructor Jonathon Crease who coached Jellalabad Company.
